Amazon.com

Amazon.com announced they would start delivering games on release day. That means the game hits the streets on November 7th, you get the game November 7th.

Gamers have been asking for it and Amazon has answered the call. Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) today announced that it will offer release-date delivery for “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09,” “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed,” “Fable 2” and “Gears of War 2.” For 5.98, Amazon customers can upgrade their shipping option for guaranteed delivery of these titles on the first day of availability to all addresses within the continental United States. Additionally, Amazon Prime customers will receive release-date delivery for free.

“
We are excited to delight Amazon customers by offering guaranteed release-date delivery of these new video game titles so that the games can arrive at their doors the first day they’re available,” said Greg Hart, vice president of video games and software at Amazon.com. “This means that thousands of gamers across the country can start playing the games they love on the day they’re released without having to stand in long lines or stay up all night to do it.”

Now they've just announced this for only the games listed but that covers the big ones you're more likely to want anyway. We'll see how this works out in practice because we've been burned by Amazon pre-orders before...

About time, i am really getting sick of Walmart, and dealing with all the animals there. Plus the fact they never put the game on the shelf till after hours, if they have it in the first place.. Yeah Amazon!

I know it would take awhile, but they should just let you download these things. Pre-load like Steam so you can get it over a longer period and activate the day of release. Amazon and Gamestop have both screwed up preorders for me so I'd rather use something else but I'm stuck. I dont' think I've ever bought a game at a Wally-world before.

The price on shipping is pretty good, not as cheap as going into a store but how many times have you been burned on game day anyway?

You know, I just noticed some glaring omissions - Resistance 2, SOCOM, Fallout 3...

Fallout 3 was just added; I got an e-mail from Amazon informing me I can upgrade my shipping. However, not really; I logged in, and Release Date shipping isn't an option. I can only assume it's because they're not offering it for the exclusive Survival Edition - which is a load of bull, because I'm already spending $120 for it. Release Date shipping should be part of the damn deal!

I'm pretty angry about it. I'm going to argue with customer service.
