After the drubbing we took over our last SOCOM missing features/botched launch post we find it slightly amusing reading this thread over at SOCOM's official forum. Clearly there are some pissed of SOCOM players out there! A quick sampling of the thread make it appear as if Slant Six and Sony grossly underestimated demand for this game or just plain'ol punted this one and thought they could sneak in the fixes later. While missing features is a problem, the number one issue that people are having, including us, is connecting to the servers. Even if you can get into one of the servers, you'll still get random kicks from games. For an on-line only game, this is beyond reprehensible. On the positive side, coming from a first time SOCOM player, once you do get into a game and get used to the controls that are a little different than what you might be used to (honestly, the scope button choice is just dumb, should be a trigger by default), you're going to have a good time. Proximity chat works well enough but because it's so transparent it doesn't seem that "wow" in practice. Aim is pretty true and you have a good selection of weapons. We're going to say something controversial here, this is as close to playing BF2 as we have seen from a console game yet. Yes BF:BC has the same sort of feel but you're a little jumpy in your movements. SOCOM feels right. So, if you're a noob to PS3 and loved BF2 - give this game a shot, you'll like it. Now if they could just get the servers, stats, follow-friend...and a bunch of other things fixed... Comments (3)

... I want to take the damn controller and throw it through the TV. I can't believe how badly they screwed this up! This has got to be one of the worst launches I can remember. |

... Ahh yes, once again BF2 sets the stage for all games created after 2005! BF2 = Stage Setter. |
