 Our little Sackboy shouldn't be so happy. According to reports from Eurogamer Little BIG Planet is being delayed worldwide. Any game that was already shipped to retailers is being recalled too. This is serious business. Why is this happening? According to sources, two pieces of music used in the game make minor references to the Koran. In music. In the background. So much for tolerance! Do they ask us to blow up American running dogs? Will they convert us? Are they being used against Muslims in some way? Well, judge for yourself here. Do you really care that two little references in background music that are not part of game-play might have come from the Koran? We doubt it. We also seriously doubt if these references were from say another book, the Bible, they would recall and delay the game. Political correctness gone amok. We're pissed and you should be too. Word is we MIGHT see this around the middle of November now, putting this game in uncomfortable position of being too close to R2, GOW2 and COD World at War. Not a good place to be. **Update** Looks like the game will only be pushed back by a week to October 28th now. Fingers crossed.

... You know, I am actually more bothered by this than I thought I would be. I think this post from Gamasutra explains the feeling well "So Sony's taken a lesson from the Dutch Newspapers, huh? Can't please 100% of the world, but make for damn sure you please 100% of the Muslim populace." I canceled my pre-order. I might still get the game but I can only really let them know what I think by not buying it. I'm guessing they are going to get hit with more of these than they think. It's not a matter of being tolerant, it's about being equally tolerant and respectful to all. But hey, that's just my opinion. |

What happened to the 'If you don't like it, shut up and deal with it, or go do something else' line of thought? I mean, geez, no one can deal with anything that causes them to be the slightest bit uncomfortable anymore. And it's not just in regards to religious beliefs. The fact is, people have been spoiled into thinking that they have to have everything just how they want it. No one is pushed beyond their comfort zone. And sadly, this leads to closed minds and a general lack, or repression of, true creativity. |
