![]() Sony just updated the official SOCOM site with some information about the much-needed SOCOM: Confrontation patches. They are working hard on the server issues as you'll see in the statement and the client patch appears to be final testing. Hopefully they will be able to wrap this up and start focusing on additional content...one thing at a time though.
Full StatementSince the launch of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation in North America, we've been working to address the server and stability issues in order to get them resolved ASAP. We have a team of close to 100 people working to get the issues resolved. On the server side, we've been updating the SOCOM: Confrontation servers nearly every morning and we have not seen any major server access issues in the last week. We are continuing to optimize the servers and we've also started the process of restoring some game UI (User Interface) features which were disabled on the server side a few days after launch in order to reduce load on the servers. On the game client side, we are in acceptance testing for the 1.20 SOCOM: Confrontation game update. As mentioned in my previous post, the focus of this patch is to address stability and serious playability issues only. The 1.20 update addresses many of the freezes and getting booted to the XMB issues. It also addresses the mass game boot (where many players are simultaneously disconnected from a game), the scope offset issue when prone or using the SIXAXIS peek and other issues. We are doing all we can to get this patch released this week but a final date is still TBD until the acceptance testing is complete. Once we have a final date we will post it here on the blog along with a complete fix list. We are committed to making SOCOM: Confrontation not only the best SOCOM game but the best online shooter period. We appreciate all of your feedback and support. Regards, Seth Luisi Director of Development Sony Computer Entertainment America Comments (8)

... 100 people!?? Are they recoding the whole game from scratch? This must really be fuxored if they really have that many noggins on it. I just hope they can fix the connection issues and the stats first. |

... Poor management. I work in IT, it does not require not even half as many people to fix it. The more people you have, the more problems you create than resolve. Just stupid, typical Sony. Why release an online only game when you can't play online. Little big planet has the same issues and who of us can remember the Metal gear online beta. It took me 9 hours to download the patch. |

... I work in I.T. and it could very well take a team of 100 to work on server side AND client side connectivity issues. Not only are you working with net code, but game code as well. While I appreciate them working so diligently, proper QA could have avoided this mess completely. |

... Well, there are a million bugs to be fixed, so they are fixing 5. lol Good logic. Way to waste all that beta time doing nothing but sitting on their asses eating chips and picking their nose. ... Between this and LittleBIG, Sony is proving itself and amateur at online MP gaming. Frighting really that they can't get this right. I bet Xbox 360 sells a ton more this holiday than PS3 and these two screw up will be part of the reason. I'm glad I got one but I'm very happy I still have my 360 and PC for most of my online MP gaming. |
