Weekend Wrap-up E-mail
Sunday, 09 November 2008

What a wild weekend, we ran around in the wastelands of D.C. in Fallout 3, finally finishing the main storyline after over 30 hours spent in the game.

After that we traveled to Sera to take the fight to the Locust and along the way met some nice people and even a queen. Good game, finished up the single player campaign.

Once done with Gears, we were in San Francisco fighting for the survival of the human race against the wily Chimera forces with Resistance 2. Watch out for the fish, they really can take a bite our of your ass...

Good times, best gaming weekend in a long time in fact. Did you get to hit the games that you wanted?

Game Releases 10/10-10/16 E-mail

COD: World at War
There's a lot going on this week with game releases. The biggest release is of course the WoW Lich King Expansion. If you're not a WoW fan, then the biggest is probably Call of Duty: World at War which we've beaten to death with coverage of so far. Take COD4, skin it for WWII and toss in some new perks and different weapons, shake and prepare to count all your money.

Mirror's Edge also comes out and unlike DICE's other properties (Battlefield games), this one is a first person jumper. Looks interesting but don't know if they can really stretch this one out for 3 games like they have stated.

Let's not forget about Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe because that's going to be huge this week too. Click the link, you'll see why.

EA is also pushing Shaun White on every platform with a socially-centric open-world snowboarding game...at least we won't have to see the commercials for too much longer.

What a week!

Gears of War Lancer Replica for Just $949.99... E-mail
Friday, 07 November 2008

Did you know you could get a genuine, Epic approved Triforce COG Lancer replica for just a mere $949.99? Ouch, yeah that is kind of rich. Of course you could just get the Amazon Lancer replica made my action figure makers Neca for just a mere $140. With the Amazon Lancer you'll also get a removable clip and chainsaw noises when you pull the trigger. The downside is...well the Amazon version just isn't as nice but is the extra $809 in your pocket enough of a consolation?

The Triforce Lancer replica is more a piece of art than a novelty. It's got some heft to it (15lbs or so) and looks to be made out of metal and not plastic. You probably won't get buzzing noises but the bloodwork on the Lancer is a great deal more lifelike than on the Amazon version. For this quality, you gotta pay through the nose.

Triforce also has a wicked looking Drone sculpture they are going to be selling for $550. We don't see one of these on Amazon's site yet...

Ghostbusters
Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! Who you gonna call? Atari!

After Activision backed away from the Ghostbusters devs the almost finished game was in limbo, just like the ghosts. Fear not scared city, Atari has taken up the Proton packs and promise not to cross the streams when they start mopping up the ghosts.

Atari, one of the world’s most recognized video game publishers, announced today the addition of the highly anticipated Ghostbusters: The Video Game to its 2009 release schedule. Working closely with Sony Pictures Consumer Products Inc. and acclaimed development studio Terminal Reality, Atari will bring this completely new story to advanced gaming platforms coinciding with the 25th anniversary celebration of the film’s original theatrical release. Ghostbusters: The Video Game, based on the smash hit motion picture franchise, also reunites original cast members to recapture the unique blend of humour and fright that established Ghostbusters as a pop culture sensation.

I ain't afraid of no ghosts.
