Battlefield: Heroes Finally Launches

BF Heroes

After jerking us around and gaming the PR system for over a year, Battlefield Heroes is officially launching today. The free to play third-person game runs off of a modified Battlefield 2142 engine and plays essentially in a browser. Gameplay style is cartoonish on purpose and hardcore players will probably not stick around long if my opinion of the gameplay is any indication. Still, as an exercise in packing a good looking game (it does LOOK good) into a downloadable experience that's free, it might be worth your time to check out.

Without going into any detail here's what you need to know - if you're an FPS gamer that likes BF2 or TF2 this isn't the game for you; go try Combat Arms, it's free and plays more like what you want. For people looking to kill some time or spend some money for upgrades...this is the game you've been waiting for.

Of course they release this on the day I rail against DICE and EA for their lack of dates but the essentially cold (secret...) launch of this game actually proves the point all the more that they are awful at communication.
