DICE Reveals Battlefield 1943 Launch Date

BF1943 Finally. The launch date for Battlefield 1943 has been announced. July 8th for Xbox 360 and July 9th for PS3.

The game is going to run 1200 MS points or $14.99 on PSN.

The date for PC (firm date unknown) is sometime in September, at least the last time it was mentioned.

The game has no unlocks or ranks like BF2, BF2142 or even Battlefield Bad Company. On the positive side, and even though it's a small thing, you get a parachute in the game. Trust me, this was an annoyance with BF:BC. There will be achievements and trophies for Xbox 360 and PS3. These awards will be based on activities done in the game so there will by team-play based, flying-based and kit and vehicle-based achievements. In addition, there will be in-game awards that take the shape of postcards and stamps. Little information has been put forth about these yet.

Also revealed was more information about the Coral Sea map that needs to be unlocked by the individual communities based on kills (for each platform). The map is a dog-fight only map where each player gets a plane. Both sides start on an aircraft carrier and the object of the game is to control air superiority zones (instead of flags). This is 12v12 just like the other maps.
