It's funny, I'll bitch when there are no games and bitch when there are too many. This time it's the latter and it's no joke. This seems to happen every fall just like last year around this time when there was SOCOM: Confrontation, Dead Space, Fable II, Fallout 3, Little Big Planet, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Call of Duty: World at War and Left 4 Dead all within a few weeks of each other in October and November. Yikes - too many games you want to play hitting all at the same time. If you bought them all you got no sleep and spent over $500.
Take a look at this year's Fall line-up:
With the possible exception of Brutal Legend and Tekken 6, these are all must-have games for me and most gamers. I get that game publishers want to hit the holiday season but this line-up is just ridiculous! For a multi-console gamer there are going to be some hard choices to make because it's just not possible to devote the time to play these games AND enjoy them.
I suppose we should be happy that we are getting such a crop of games because it means the companies are by-and-large listening to what gamers want and providing it. I do thing however that the gaming market is less cyclical than other retail products might be and that spacing these things out gives them better legs and helps spread the market out a bit providing a steady flow of money and much needed sanity for the hardcore gamers (and gaming news guys...).
At this point I already have 5 of these games pre-ordered but I think that's my limit. What's yours?

... Funny you say Brutal Legand is a maybe fro the list. from what I've beenr eading it may be the surprise game of the year. Also, wasn't Assassin's Creed II oushed back to Q1 2010? Maybe I'm wrong. But regardless, yes it will be a busy fall. Modern Warfare 2 would have been enough for me to say that. |

... Assassin's Creed 2 still on schedule as far as I could find. About Brutal Legend, maybe it will be but it's not my bag. Truth be told, Jack Black irritates the hell out of me AND I'm not interested in some Night Flight, old-skool metal inspired roadie game. Nah, not my bag at all. |
