Even with all its warts and lack of dedicated servers, Modern Warfare 2 is demolishing sales records worldwide. With the UK number rolling in that MW2 has sold over 4.7 million the global number is being predicted at over 7 million according to Gamasutra.

To put some numbers to the MW2 sales consider this, in the first 24 hours it was on sale (actual launch date of 11/10/09) MW2 scored $310 million dollars. This catapults MW2 into the one-day sales leader position previously held by GTA IV which had "only" 1.23 million sold in the UK on day one.

Activision shareholders should be grinning ear-to-ear on this news, especially in light of the Guitar Hero/Band/DJ sales domination coming to an end.
