Assassin's Creed II Developer Confirms DLC Was Originally In Game Then Cut

Gamers are by their nature inquisitive and cynical. The things we have to do in games and the developers and publishers themselves force us to remain a little wary of the goings on around us. When we first heard about the Assassin's Creed 2 DLC there was of course that feeling that this was content that was cut out of the game. If you played the game you'll know what I mean - you essentially jump years into the future with little explanation.

Turns out being cynical once again is justified.

In an interview posted on Kotaku, Patrice Desilets the creative director of Assassin's 2, it was confirmed that the DLC was in fact gutted from the game. Of course he tried to spin this as making the game better but the fact is they had a hard deadline and needed to cut some out in order to make it. Conveniently enough they could package it as DLC and charge more money for it.

For Ubisoft it's a win-win situation, for gamers it's a little harder to swallow. I don't necessarily feel nickel-and-dimed but they could have at least handled the time change better in the "finished" game than they did.
