XBLIVE Top 20 Most Played for Last Week

FFXIII It's been a little while again since I posted the top XBLIVE games so I thought it might be interesting to take a look and see what's changed.

Turns out that the CODs are still holding strong with MW2 at #1, WaW at #3 and COD4 at #7 - pretty impressive. Halo 3 is holding tight at #2 which might be more impressive than the three Call of Duty games and speaks volumes into the importance of having vehicles in an FPS. Likewise BFBC2 has vehicles and comes in at #3.

The rest of the games aren't all that surprising really except for maybe Final Fantasy XIII because it's the first time the 360 has had an FF game.

MW2 Stimulus Package Launch Nerfed Up

Mapathy Not Cured The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package DLC with it's new/old maps has launched but in typical MW2 and Xbox 360 fashion the rollout is not going smoothly. Turns out the title update should have gone out first but they screwed up the timing and allowed people to buy the (for $15!!!) DLC without it. That's not such a good idea because it doesn't work without the update.

According to Major Nelson they are working on pushing out the title update pronto

The Stimulus Package needs a Title Update and it didn't go out properly. We're pushing it out now - it won't be long.

Famous last words...

*UPDATE*
Matchmaking is also screwed up right now but don't worry, they are working on it...

Yes, matchmaking is in a bad state on #xboxlive right now. We're working on it & will resolve it as quickly as we can.

Major Nelson's XBLIVE Account Hacked

Facepalm A hacker broke into Larry Hryb's Major Nelson account and changed some things up just to prove how pwned the Major was. Turns out that while he might have some skillz, he ain't too bright because he posted his website contact info that invariably led some people to find out (Whois...) just who the dude was.

Microsoft Rolling Out USB Storage Options for Xbox 360 in April

Xbox 360 USB Storage So you have an older Xbox 360 or maybe you cheaped out and just bought a 360 Arcade without an HDD and are running into the need to save somethings beyond the 512MB limit Microsoft imposed; well you're in luck.

Microsoft has been testing USB mass storage on the Xbox 360 with amounts as high as 16GB. You can even use UBS hard drives but you're still limited to 16GB which is nice and junky at the same time. On the positive side, you can use two drives at the same time to bulk up to 32GB. What can you put on your drive? How about storing profiles, game saves, demos "and more." Whether more means full games they aren't being clear on yet but I'm going to guess yes. It's Not Blu-ray but at least it's something.

The XBLIVE update to enable the feature should hit on April 6th and a pre-configured SanDisk Xbox branded drive soon after in May. The benefit of the branded drive is that it will come all set for use saving you a couple of minutes formatting time.
